Why donate

Honestly, if we use free and open source software, we should chip in when we can. These projects respect our privacy, don’t sell our data, and give us high-quality tools without asking for anything back. But servers, development, and maintenance cost real money. If nobody contributes, eventually these projects slow down or disappear, and we end up back on the platforms that exploit us. Even a small donation helps keep them alive and independent.

Where to start

If you want to start supporting free and open source projects at the same time that you start your journey in privacy the best you can do is to start using services like proton, which use his non-profit proton foundation to support other organizations that are aligned with his purpose, at the same time that they provide limited free-tiers to people that can’t afford it.

Others options could be donate to projects that you use, run nodes — e.g. tor, simplex or monero — and support organizations that help others with privacy related issues, like Electronic Frontier Foundation.

My donations

I usually contribute monetarialy to different kind of projects. I will eventually update this page with the projects I have supported in case you want to support them too.
